The short answer: the wine emoji is 🍷, officially called Wine Glass (U+1F377), added to Unicode in 2010. It is drawn as red wine, but its name says only “wine glass”: it stands for wine of every colour. There is still no separate white-wine or rosé emoji. For bubbles, use 🥂 or 🍾.

Why is there no white wine emoji?

New emojis are approved by the Unicode Consortium. Anyone can send a proposal through its form, but only a very small share are accepted, and brands and logos are always turned down. According to Emojipedia, a white-wine emoji has been requested often and proposed more than once without success; the Wine Glass was meant to stand for wine as a whole, not one colour. So for now, 🍷 is your white, your red and your rosé.

Make your own wine emojis and stickers with AI

You cannot add an emoji to everyone's keyboard, but you can make your own wine stickers for a chat, a wine club or a menu. When this page first went up in 2023, it showed a set of wine emojis I had made with AI. Today's image tools do it far better. A few tips:

  • Describe it like an emoji: “a cute wine glass emoji, flat vector style, thick outline, plain white background”.
  • Be specific about the wine. Say white, rosé or sparkling, and the glass: “pale gold white wine in a stemmed tulip-shaped glass”. Vague prompts give generic pictures.
  • Ask for the details a sommelier would notice: a glass held by the stem, wine poured only to the widest part of the bowl, a waiter's friend corkscrew rather than a T-handle.
  • Make a set, not a one-off. Keep the same style words in every prompt so the stickers match.
  • Check before you share. AI still slips on small things: count the stems, read any text on the label.
  • Turn it into a sticker. Remove the background and save it as a PNG. Many messaging apps, WhatsApp and iMessage among them, let you turn an image into a sticker.

SOMM DIGI AI includes an image studio among its 14 wine tools, for wine images in your own style. To be clear about what it is: SOMM DIGI did not build its own AI model; it teaches today's best AI to talk wine. Prefer real glasses to drawn ones? Here are the best wine glasses.
