Who is Bianca AI? The virtual wine lover I created
Bianca is not a real person. She is an AI character I created in 2024 to make wine feel easy. Who she is, how she was made, and what an AI wine character can and can't do.

The short answer: Bianca is a virtual wine lover. She is an AI character, not a real person. I created her in 2024, at SOMM DIGI. Every picture of her is made with AI image tools, and her words come from AI language models, shaped by me. Her job is simple: make wine feel friendly, for beginners and for people who work in wine.
Who Bianca is
Think of her as a friend who loves wine and never gets tired of explaining it. In her pictures she walks through vineyards, cellars and tasting rooms. In her words she tells you why a wine tastes the way it does, without the jargon.
She can also travel in time. Because she isn't real, she can stand in ancient Mesopotamia or in a Roman villa and tell you how wine was made and drunk there. History is easier to remember when someone takes you there. If that's your kind of thing, read Mesopotamia and wine.
How she was made
- Her face and her travels: AI-generated images. No photo of a real person, no real vineyard passed off as one she visited.
- Her voice: AI language models, written to explain wine simply and warmly.
- Her wine knowledge: she was born as part of SOMM DIGI AI, my wine app, which I trained on my own Advanced Sommelier exam notes.
Why I created her
- Wine can feel intimidating. A lot of people never ask the question they want to ask, because they're afraid of sounding silly. A friendly character makes the first question easier.
- Two audiences, one guide. For wine lovers: simple tasting, easy pairings, the story of a place. For sommeliers and students: the detail behind the story, the regions, the grapes and the rules.
- Small wineries need storytellers. Many small and mid-sized wineries make great wine and have no marketing budget. A character like Bianca was my way of exploring how AI could help them tell their story.
What an AI wine character can't do
- She can't taste. Every description she gives comes from knowledge, not from a glass. When the wine is in front of you, trust your own palate.
- She can be wrong. AI can sound sure and still make a mistake. For anything that matters, a law, an exam answer, a producer's history, check an official source.
- She shouldn't pretend to be human. An AI character should be introduced as AI, clearly and every time. Nobody should find out later.
- She doesn't replace a sommelier. At the table, a person reads the room, the occasion and the mood. My rule for wine still holds: sell the feeling, not the score.
AI characters and wineries
For a winery, an AI character can explain, entertain and keep a social feed alive. But it should never stand in for the real thing. Show your own vineyard in your own photos, and let AI help with the words and the reach. If you want to talk about how AI could work for your winery, that's what SOMM DIGI Partner is for.
And if you just want wine answered like a sommelier would answer it, try SOMM DIGI AI. Honest about it: I didn't build my own AI model. I taught today's best AI to talk wine like a sommelier. It's free to start, with no card.
